This year, long-distance runner Andreas Almgren from Sweden is one of the candidates:

"My name is Andreas Almgren and I’m one of the candidates for the Athletes' Commission. I’m a Swedish long-distance runner and have competed at the highest level since the World Championships back in 2015. I’ve had a burning passion for athletics throughout my whole life and I was a was a spectator at both the World Championships in 2005 and European Championships in 2006.

This sport is going through a lot of changes at the moment. New innovations, new championships and new meeting formats. I want to be the voice of the athletes to make sure that the changes are indeed improvements. I have a solid academic background in industrial engineering and management, and I believe that I can discuss issues from many different perspectives. Both from the business side, and for what’s best for the athletes. I have been trusted to be the athletes' representative for the Swedish national team, so I have some experience working in this type of environment.

The election of Athletes' Commission is a very important process. It is an opportunity to make your voices heard and have some real impact. Make sure to vote and I hope I get the chance to be your representative!"
